MINIMAP

Privacy policy

Effective October 23, 2026 · Beta version

MiniMap records where you drive so it can fill in your map. That's sensitive, so the short version is: your drives are yours. Nobody else can see them, we don't sell anything, and there are no ads or trackers.

In short

What we collect

Your drives. While a drive is recording, MiniMap saves your phone's GPS location (position, time and speed) every few meters as you move. Recording starts only when you tap Start Drive and stops when you tap End Drive. If you allow "Always" location access, recording continues while your phone is locked; iPhone shows a blue location indicator whenever it's on. MiniMap does not track your location when you're not recording a drive, apart from showing where you are on the map while the app is open.

Your account (optional). If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the email address and name they share with us (Apple lets you hide your email). You choose a username and display name for friends.

What friends can see (only people you've accepted as friends). Summary stats, updated after your drives: miles revealed and driven, towns discovered and completed, and your % of towns and states. A badge: a snapshot of the roads you've driven, updated only when you tap Publish.

Global leaderboard (optional, off by default). If you join it, everyone signed in can see your username, display name and these numbers only: your % of each state, towns completed, towns discovered and miles revealed.

Road reports. If you report a road, we store which road it was (its location), your reason and any note you write, linked to your account.

What we don't collect: contacts, photos, advertising identifiers, or analytics about how you use the app.

Where it's stored

Your drives live on your phone. If you sign in, they're also backed up to our database, hosted by Supabase in the United States. Database rules make each person's drives readable only by them. If you use MiniMap outside the US, your data is stored in the US.

Who else is involved

MiniMap uses a few services to work. They see only what's needed to provide their part:

We don't sell your data, share it with advertisers or data brokers, or use it for ads.

Deleting your data

Children

MiniMap isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

MiniMap is in beta and this policy may change as it grows. We'll update the date above, and tell you in the app if anything important changes.
